Jean-Bernard Auby

Jean-Bernard Auby passed the agrégation (The agrégation is a highly-competitive national teaching examination) in public law and holds a doctorate in law. Since 2006, he has directed the Center on Changes in Governance and Public Law at Sciences Po.

Prof. Auby has been a professor at Sciences Po since 2006. He previously served as Dean of the Law School, University of Paris XII (1989-1993) and professor of public law at the University of Paris II-Assas (1994-2006). He also served as Deputy Director of the Institute of European and Comparative Law at Oxford University (1998-2000) and was a visiting professor at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (2006), the University of Rome-La Sapienza (2007), the University of Pennsylvania (2009), the European Academy of Public Law (Athens, 2009) and the Bocconi University in Milan (2009).

Prof. Auby is honorary president of the French Local Government Law Association (Association Française de Droit des Collectivités Locales), director of the Juris-Classeur Administratif (an encyclopedia of French administrative law published by Editions Lexis Nexis), director of the administrative law publication, Droit Administratif (Editions Lexis Nexis), and editor of the collection, Droit Administratif/Administrative Law (Editions Bruylant). He is a member of the editorial board of several publications, including the Revue française de droit administratif, Review of European Administrative Law, Revue européenne de droit public, European Public Law and the International and Comparative Law Quarterly.
He is the author of several books, including:
