Olivier Duhamel

Olivier Duhamel passed the agrégation in public law (1981) and is a full professor. He has taught, successively, at the Université de Besançon, the Université Paris X-Nanterre and the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. He has also been a visiting professor at the University of Washington and New York University.
Simultaneous with his academic positions, Olivier Duhamel has also held a number of government posts. He served as advisor to the president of the French Constitutional Council (1983-1995), a member of the French Consultative Committee for the Revision of the Constitution (the "Vedel Commission," 1992 and 1993), a European deputy (1997-2004) and a member of the Convention on the Future of Europe (the European Convention) and authored the report on the constitutionalization of treaties (October 2000). More recently, he served on the Comité de réflexion et de proposition sur la modernisation et le rééquilibrage des institutions de la Ve République (committee on institutional modernization), chaired by Édouard Balladur.

He has co-hosted Médiapolis with Michel Field on Europe 1 since 2007.
He is founder and editor of the publication, POUVOIRS, co-editor (with Evelyne Pisier) of the collection, A savoir (Dalloz), since 2006, a member of the Advisory Board of the European Constitutional Law Review (Cambridge University Press) and a member of the board of the Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques.
